For the past three years, my work desk has always been by the window which has the view of the garden. So as I work my ass off, I have witnessed the garden in its various states of shabbiness and, recently, marveled in its gloriousness. This is the view I used to see when I look out of the window.

Until now.

There are three reasons why I moved the pieces of furniture, however few they are, around.

First, the incident in which someone had been trying to break into my home scared me. I thought, if my thingamabobs are near the window then it would be easier for those small time thieves to nick something off of my desk. The thing is, I have this habit of leaving my stuff on my desk – mobile phone, pens, sometimes even keys (yes, yes, I’m that bad).

You might be wondering why I am so scared of thieves in spite of my property being gated. Well, see, a few months ago someone actually went through the trouble of entering a neighbor’s property and nicking a mobile phone through the window. But that story is for another post.

Second, in spite of having very few pieces of furniture (I do not have a sofa…yet), the living area looks cramped. So I needed to find a way to make the it more spacious. I think it was a success.

Finally, my new LCD monitor’s base seems a bit fragile. It’s a little wonky actually. So I decided to place my desk against a wall.

The down side to this is that, with this new position, my back is turned from the TV. I hope it makes me more productive. Or maybe not. Kidding.

So this is the reason I miss the beautiful view so much when I work. I’m stuck in front of a wall.
